MapleStory Dawn Warrior aka Soul Master Skill Build Guide

MapleStory Soul Master aka Dawn Warrior Skill Build Guide 2013 MapleStory Dawn Warrior (GMS) aka Soul Master (MSEA) Cygnus Knights is third in line to receive skills revamp from KMS (Korea MapleStory) on 10th April 2013 with this [kMSt] v.1.2.475 – Dawn Warrior Reborn! patch. Dawn Warrior can now level up as high as the rest of the classes and able to utilize 4th Job Skills and Hyper Skills. They do not require any Mastery Book to unlock their skills. MapleSEA received Knight of Cygnus Revamp on August 8th 2013 in version 1.32 patch. The new Soul Master uses two modes: Luna Stance and Sol Stance. You can activate a certain skill when you are in either Falling Moon or Rising Sun mode. As you notice below, there are several pair of skills that shares the same skill icon which means they are combined together, therefore you do not have to level them separately. There is also the Solunar Time state in fourth job that lets you have the benefits of both! It is similar to Luminous System where you can switch between Light and Dark Mode. [NOTE] You will not be able to use Rising Sun version skills during 2nd job until 3rd job. The maximum level for Cygnus Knight is 250. They get +6 AP every level, and +5 AP every level after 70.

Explanation:
Inverse Slash and Luna Slice will be Soul Master primary attacking skill. Use Inverse Slash for bossing whereas Luna Slice for hit and run on flat platform. To efficiently train using Inverse Slash, you will need to practice rear attack. Approach enemy closely by jumping straight at them, face backwards and activate the skill. This skill also has very far range which hit enemies without the skill animation touching them and you can jump attack enemies above you. However, Luna Slice is not capable of performing jump attack. Luna Slice is maxed instead of Inverse Slash because it can be used in 4th job bossing to avoid enemy attacks and the additional damage could help a little. Inverse Slash will be replaced with a more powerful attacking skill in 4th job.

4. Will of Steel (MAX)
5. Soul of the Guardian (MAX)
6. True Sight (MAX)
7. Moon Cross (14/20)
8. Rising Sun (MAX)

Explanation:
Moon Shadow will be your primary attacking skill while Moon Cross will acts as your secondary skill to cluster enemies nearby you. It’s recommended not to use Moon Cross as a primary skill because it uses more MP and deals less damage. From my personal experience, Sol Stance isn’t very useful compared to Luna Stance because the active skills on Sun Mode isn’t that useful. Light Flux only hit 1 enemy vs Moon Shadow hits 6 enemies. Sun Cross pushes enemy away from you vs Moon Cross pulls fleeing or out-of-reach enemies towards you so you can use your most powerful attacking skill against them. Therefore, no early 1 SP into Sol Stance and its maxed the last. Moon Shadow will be your primary attacking skill and for bossing. Multiple attacks is much more favored especially against enemies that usually are higher level or has high avoidability (creates lots of misses).

Explanation:
Primary training skill is Crescent Divide vs Solar Pierce. Use Speeding Sunset for Single Target (e.g. boss). Once you have a decent level of Solunar Time, you can use both Swirling Moon vs Sunset Splitter to your advantage to cycle through the map. Next, max Sword Expert to boost your min-max damage followed by Master of the Sword to enhance Sol/Luna Stance. Buff self with Solunar Time to improve your DPS (Damage Per Second), otherwise get Soul Pledge first if you feel that the constant auto-switch skills is uncomfortable for training. If you find yourself not attending any 1vs1 ceremony, max Foresight/Unpredictable to improve your damage by small amount, else get Swirling Moon vs Sunset Splitter. Soul Penetration isn’t useful for training purposes since most monsters that you fight can be 1-4 Hit KO unless you want to use your ultimate Hyper Skill Attack for the final blow against an enemy bind at a specific spot.

    When will this be updated?

    Thanks

  2. KevinPharmD

@MellohNi: You would choose Cygnus as Mihile is the captain of the knights. The Cygnus choice will allow you to choose one of the other Cygus classes.

  4. MellohNi

Hello, I’m new to Maplestory. My friend wanted to play Dawn Warrior but in the class selection I see “Cygnus” and “Mihile (Cygnus Knight)”. So which one should he choose in order to play Dawn Warrior?

  5. Hehexd

Any idea if 100 ping is fine for dawn warrior to play on?

  6. Ayumilove Post author

@UshiBlessing: You can send all the skills and I’ll see which 1 fits in better. Most importantly, I’ll need the Hyper Skills and 5th Job Skills for Dawn Warrior. You can try sending 1 video recording first and I’ll do some checking to see if its OK or needs to be adjusted so its will be higher quality.

  7. UshiBlessing

@Ayumilove Just to be certain, do you want ALL skills or just 5th Job skills? Any particular skills? No sense sending all the skills if you only need a handfull.

  8. Ayumilove Post author

@UshiBlessing: It’s quite simple! Basically send me over the video recordings and I’ll compile them into 1 super jam packed video like how its shown in my previous videos 🙂

You can record the video using OBS (Open Broadcaster Software)
    Download: https://obsproject.com/
Here are the settings used for OBS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqEibrpad7M

After recording the video, the video can be hosted on your Google Drive or a hosting website such as Mediafire.
    https://www.mediafire.com/

From there, I’ll download the videos to perform the compilation 🙂

    @Ayumilove

What would be required to help you out with the making of a new Dawn Warrior video for their Hyper Skills and 5th Job skills? Your last post was in December, but I wouldn’t mind helping out. I’m a level 204 Dawn Warrior on Reboot named UshiBlessing.

  10. Ayumilove Post author

@eunwol: The video was made in 2013 and MapleStory has performed 1 or more skill revamps between 2013 to 2018 that may have added, updated or removed the skills. When I do have the time, I’ll create a new video of Dawn Warrior with the updated skills. It would be great if you are interested in helping me out to make a new video of Dawn Warrior.

@Eden: Hero is a much better choice as it deals much more damage consistently compared to Dawn Warrior aka Soul Master with the same equips (funding through just Elite Bosses and daily gifts) In addition, Hero can equip Axe (weapon) which is far less expensive compared to Sword. I would highly recommend you to try out both classes and to see which job suits your playing style. Personally for me, I would go with Dawn Warrior as its much more agile, deals a lot more damage lines (has chance to hit monster if it has lots of miss) and large AOE attack. Another alternative job you could try is Ark. Even with low equips, its quite powerful and it gets even stronger with better funding on the equip.

  12. Ayumilove Post author

@damien Lim: When you advance to 5th job, you will now receive all 3 job-only Skill Cores. Existing 5th job characters can acquire the new 5th job Skill Core through the quest “[Black Mage] New Power to Fight the Black Mage”. Both of these are in effect on December 5 2018 (where the changes are applied by MapleStory patch). For more details, visit the changelog page at https://ayumilove.net/maplestory-update-notes-msea-v180/

  13. Eden

Soul Master or Hero which is better for low funded player?

  14. damien Lim

    hi.
i wnted to ask u bout soul master.
im currently in 5th job and there is no sign skills about the eclipse. im playing maplesea. or maplesea dsnt hv eclipse for soul master?

  15. eunwol

another bad video you show skills per usual that are old or not even available – you cant use the light attacks or sol or w.e in 2nd job you dont even get the stance or the skills.
also looks like a bad class to begin with – and you especially left out how the like entire 2nd job ur attacking behind u like a ninny

  16. Ayumilove Post author

@DMH: Dawn Warrior uses switch mode skill system. The skills will be substituted when switching between Sun and Moon mode.

  17. Ayumilove Post author

@Ohlette: Characters that does not need to jump and attack or require spamming keys to combo (e.g. Mercedes, Aran, Blaster, Thunder Breaker) are considered ping friendly (lag does not affect them much). Go with Scania if you want to look for pre-scrolled starforced equips easily in Freemarket. WTFast is one of the service that reduce lag.

  18. Ayumilove Post author

@Leslie: Dawn Warrior uses switching skill mode system. You can only see the Moon Shadow and Moon Cross skill when you are in Moon mode (by activating Luna Stance | Falling Moon).

  19. Ayumilove Post author

@Carparoni: I think that Elemental Resistance refers to reduction of damage from enemy element attacks towards your character. Ignore Elemental Resistance is the one that applies to enemies when your character inflicts damage via skill.

  20. DMH

Weird – when you put a point into light merger Moon Shadow shows up and then they match?

  21. DMH

    I am GMS
I see third job skills as:
    Light Merger
    Moon Cross
    Rising Sun
    True Sight
    Soul of the Guardian
    Will of Steel
    Inner Voice
    1. Moon Shadow *Not listed, Moon Cross, Rising Sun, Will of Steel (1)
    2. Inner Voice (MAX)
    3. Moon Shadow (MAX)
    4. Will of Steel (MAX)
    5. Soul of the Guardian (MAX)
    6. True Sight (MAX)
    7. Moon Cross (14/20)
    8. Rising Sun (MAX)
(you don’t list light merger and they don’t list moon shadow – but the descriptions don’t match)
    Thanks!

  22. Ohlette

    Hi Ayumi,

    I have three questions.

    1. server choice (Scania vs Windia) – My key concerns are access to a good economy and training locations

    2. Any ping booster / VPN service that helps speed up connection to GMS’ servers? I reside in HK (and TMS is not well developed or english-friendly)

    3. I’m interested in leveling a dawn warrior. Are they ping friendly?

  23. Leslie

I just did my 3rd Job Advancement, but i don’t see the skills Moon Shadow and Moon Cross in my book (everything else shows). Is this a glitch or something?

  24. Carparoni

How come you dont take true sight enhance? Since elemental resistance ignore is so hard to find, doesn’t this increase damage the most?

  25. Ayumilove Post author

@kosmosri: Sorry for the confusion. I have updated the 4th job skill build guide section to have 3 skill points instead of 4 skill points.

  26. Ayumilove Post author

@Cyan: Divide and Pierce is used for training/farming purposes. You can move 1 point from Divide and Pierce to Swirling Splitter if you do more bossing then training/farming.

  27. Ayumilove Post author

@Jensi: You can farm meso at highly populated mob areas such as Moon Bunnies at Korean Folk Town.

  28. Ayumilove Post author

@Hishiro: Dawn Warrior recommended to get this Inner Ability (Attack: +30) or (Boss Damage: +20%). I have added it to the Dawn Warrior Overview section and other job’s overview section for easy reference! 🙂

  29. Cyan

Under hyper skill build, is there a reason why the ignore enemy defense for swirling splitter is forgone for another skill point under divide and pierce?

  30. kosmosrl

New to the game here. Just change to 4th job and i only gained 3 skill points. Your guide apparently assume you get 4. Did this change?

  31. Cyda

I was wondering in what passive stats i should put my hyper points into?

  32. Hishiro

what Inner we should get for Dawn Warrior, Ayumi?

  33. Jensi

Where can I meso farm with this class, it sucks and I am not switching classes or making a new one. I am level 150. (REBOOT)

  34. Ayumilove Post author

@Xan: For all warriors excluding Demon Avenger, you should distribute all AP (Ability Points) into STR (Strength) stats since it provides you with the bulk of your damage and there are not DEX (Dexterity) requirement on the equipment. Dawn Warrior can equip both 1H (one-handed) or 2H (two-handed) sword. Their secondary weapon is a Jewel which can be bought from NPC in most large town such as Leafre.

  35. Xan

Sorry, I’m new to maple, may I ask can I ware 2h sword?
If yes so what’s my secondary weapon is?

Should I put all ap to STR? Or leave some to DEX?
    Thanks

  36. Ayumilove Post author

@CheezSandwy: Thanks for informing about the new Dawn Warrior 4th Job Skill! I’ll add the Equinox Slash into the guide above.

  37. Ayumilove Post author

@Kyble: It depends on player preferences whether they boss more often or mob/eliminate monsters more often. For casual users who just boss for EXP, can go with Careening Dance – Guardbreak. Otherwise, use Divide and Pierce – Spread for faster leveling since bosses takes some time to respawn (24 hours wait or longer). Sometimes, you can get sufficient IED (Ignore Enemy Defense) from potential scrolled equipment, therefore maxing other skill seems more viable.

  38. Kyble

hello, can you pls explain why do we give skill point to divide and pierce-spread? Should I give point to careening dance – guardbreak? I think bossing is more important than lvling so monster def ignore is useless or am I missing something? thank your for this amazing site!

  39. CheezSandwy

@Ayumilove there is a new 4th job skill for Dawn Warriors which I already mentioned in my other comment, Equinox Slash. Link: http://forums.maplestory.nexon.net/discussion/5860/let-s-see-what-the-patch-notes-missed .It is only usable when Equinox Cycle is active, its level is the same as Equinox Cycle, and at lv30 (can’t tell on lower levels, my DW is already lv17x) it reads:

“Charges forward and slashes the enemy. Can only be used in the air while using Equinox Cycle, and can be used while using other skills. SP is not required for this skill, and it can be used if you learn the Equinox Cycle skill.

    [Current Level 30]
MP Cost: 100, Damage 240%, Number of Attacks: 6, Enemies hit: 7. Cooldown: 5 sec.”

  40. CheezSandwy

Any info on Equinox Slash? 4th job Dawn Warrior skill popped up maxed outta nowhere in my Reboot DW I’m like wtf is this

  41. Jay

Hi, does Dawn Warrior still have delay when using Soluna’s Harmony/Equinox Cycle or is it fixed?

  42. Ayumilove Post author

@Shoullan: 2-handed sword if you opt not to scroll/potential the shield due to insufficient funds. Plus, 2-handed sword has further attacking range and better damage to compensate the lack of defense that a shield can offer.

  43. Shoullan

Wich is better, one handed sword with shield or two handed sword?

  44. Glant

Personally from levels 10-30 I just used elemental slash as the primary attacking skill since its just as good as triple slash and it costs no mana to use.

  45. Ayumilove Post author

@J: Falling Moon (GMS) aka Luna Stance (MSEA) is already mentioned in the 2nd job skill build guide!

  46. Ayumilove Post author

@TomLuvFrogs: The playstyle for Dawn Warriors varies depending on player’s playing style. I rarely use Moon Cross since I could just perform rush and execute the 4th job main attacking skill (has wide attacking range), removing the need to mob monsters using Moon Cross.

  47. Ayumilove Post author

@Day N Nyquil: Thanks for listing out the possible combination of equipment styles for Dawn Warrior!

  48. Ayumilove Post author

@Sabrina: Thanks for your feedback! I’ll correct Dawn Warrior’s 2nd job skill “Divine Hand” to passive.

  49. Ayumilove Post author

@H: Sure, will add 5th Job Skill for Dawn Warrior aka Soul Master.

  50. H

Can you update the latest 5th dawn warrior?

  51. Sabrina

Hi Ayumi! I noticed that the Divine Hand skill in the 2nd job is marked as supportive. In the Reboot version, it’s now passive. Thanks for your amazing guide!

  52. TomLuvFrogs

For the 3rd job skill shouldn’t you max Moon Cross instead of Moon Shadow? As you will not use Moon Shadow in 4th job but you can use Moon Cross as a grouping skill in 4th job still.

  53. J

    For 2nd job Soul Master:
You need 1 SP into Luna/Falling Moon to unlock Flicker + Bluster/Luna Slice + Sol Rush and Trace Cut + Shadow Tackle/Inverse Slash + Burning Cleave.

  54. Day N Nyquil

    AYUMI!!!!
Apparently Dawn Warriors can have 3 equipment styles
    They can either do:
    One Handed Sword and Jewel
    One Handed AND A SHIELD
    or Two Handed and Jewel!!!

I’m guessing shield is for more defense and possibly potentialing!

  55. Kagura

  56. ahyang

can tell me the hyper state how to add??

  57. dawn

@dawn w@rrior Currently at day 3, and at 14x. Probably going to take another day to get to 150. I was expecting dawn warrior to be stronger without funding but it seems thats not the case, or it hasn’t receive a much needed balance since the start of the job. Currently have under 20k range clean with just a few % str and a 176 w.atk sword. And only hitting 100k per a line. This is at lvl 143. We do have 14 lines of damage but thats only 1.4m~ , compare to others its very low.

That being side once funding or 15%str equips are worn, it would deal some pretty high numbers. I know that post was a month ago but just for reference.

  58. Ayumilove Post author

@dawn w@rrior: It depends on the number of hours you play and the place you train and the items/equips/NX cash you have (2x EXP). For casual-medium gamer who plays 2-4 hours a day, it would take approximately 3~4 days to reach Level 100, then another 3~4 days to reach Level 140. Then 2~3 days for Level 140 – 150.

  59. dawn w@rrior

in ur estimate how long to lvl up to 150 pls…………. reply…………….

  60. Ayumilove Post author

@Calliou: It really depends on your playstyle and not mine (^_^)”… If you would like super fast attacking + mobile tanky warrior, you might opt for Hayato. However, the fast attack comes with a price! It drains your MP pretty quickly. Dawn Warrior is a simpler playstyle. Just standing at one area and spamming your primary attacking skill. Some may like this, some may find it boring. I like Dawn Warrior as it does not require me to purchase Mastery Books, has very high defense, does not require you to spam buttons.

  61. Calliou

Hey Ayumi! I’m thinking about maining Dawn Warrior or Hayato. What would you prefer? What’s the better overall pick in your opinion?

  62. Zorba

Hi Ayumi! Thanks for such great guides as usual! Just wondered if you knew which class was stronger between Dawn Warrior and Hayato? I’ve tried calculating the buffs and speed. Both seem to be very strong and good mobbers. How about 1vs1? What is your opinion on this?

    Thanks in advance ^^

  63. Ayumilove Post author

@Cookies!!!: Harmony of the Sword reduces your damage to 80% from 100% of your base/main damage but allows you to deal double hits (so basically 80% x 2 = 160%) which only applies to Falling Moon Skill. For Rising Sun, it does not decrease your damage, but topping another +40% damage and increase attack speed by 2 steps.

  64. Cookies!!!

I’m kinda confused about the Harmony of the Sword thingy. Does it reduce your damage by 80% or does only 20% of it gets reduced? honestly idk what im talking about

  65. Ayumilove Post author

@Flintlock19: Personally, I like Soul Master more for its overall mobbing ability, and offense+defense. Striker absorbs damage like a sponge, higher HP consumption.

  66. Flintlock19

Which is better ? Striker or Soul Master ?

  67. Ayumilove Post author

@Hyper Lemon: Basically jobs that does not rely much on MP. Demon Slayer, Angelic Buster, Demon Avenger, Kanna, Zero. Then you have jobs that replenishes HP/MP fast: Mercedes, Bishop, Buccaneer.

  68. Hyper Lemon

What is the best jobs for unfunded player?

  69. Ayumilove Post author

@Atticus Hale: Cygnus Knights do not need to purchase any Mastery Books for their 4th Job Skills.

  70. Atticus Hale

Are mastery books for Cygnus knights same as every other school?

  71. GreenTeaArizona

When I job advanced at level 100, I only got three skill points? Did I do something wrong?

  72. Agasy

In third job, should I max moon shadow or moon cross?

  73. Agasy

In third job, I don’t know if should max moon shadow or moon cross. Moon shadow is stronger for less my, but is replaced by a better skill in fourth job and moon cross may have more utility. Can someone help me decide?

  74. Hilary

@Xenomata . . . Swirling Splitter is the recommended main bossing attack for any mode before hitting or getting near cap damage due to the higher percent damage per second one would have for using it against a single target. At cap damage divide and pierce wins because percent damage matters not when either hit is the same 60 or 65m damage per line or there about if you’re close. And I also find it odd to use swirling splitter in equinox, but it is a must untill you have sufficient range to finish your boss off using lunar mode rather than taking the extra 40% damage and 2 weapon speed of equinox for the sake of ease of use and more consistent damage output. When you hit are are near cap, divide and pierce will be the one attack for everything aside from movement.

Also, at cap damage it would be best to use all three hypers for true sight and the 20% damage and +1 attack hyper for divide and pierce.

  75. Xenomata

I have a few… qualms about the guide… at least listen to my two cents worth for a second…

~Swirling Splitter, the 1v1 skill, I feel is much worse than Divide and Pierce, the 4th job mobbing skill, even in bossing scenarios. I speak from minor experience, but outside of Equinox Cycle both versions of Swirling Splitter seem to deal much less damage than either version of Divide and Pierce, a difference that is made much more noticable in Equinox Cycle. Because of how… odd Swirling Splitter is, the characteristics of all versions of the skill can cause for some difficulty in maintaining a constant offensive pace, whereas Divide and Pierce is much more fluid and easier to control, if a little harder to aim due to the drastic hitbox relocating.

As such, I find no reason to ever recommend using SS over D&P, unless at the time SS was stronger, in which case… why is it stronger?

~Speaking on terms of the above, I find no reason to recommend putting SP into any of the Swirling Splitter hyper skills. In terms of what I believe they should be put into, I think that they would see much better use in True Sight – Enhance and True Sight – Persist.
–~Enhance raises the Elemental resistance reduction of affected targets to 20%, which combined with Elemental Expert will raise your Elemental Ignore to 70%. It might not seem like that big a change, but I find that it makes a much larger impact on damage since D&P does not have any additional Boss Attack %.
–~Persist boosts the duration of the debuff to 50 seconds. While it seems kind of useless on paper, that’s an extra 20 seconds of attacking, and the skill itself has a fairly long animation compared to other skills of similar nature. I feel that every extra second you can use to avoid having to use the skill again will be worth it.

~In-game, the Soul Forge skill states that it does not stack with Hand of Light.

  76. Ayumilove Post author

@Questioning: Thanks for the note. I have updated the skill build guide to max Luna Slice + Sol Rush instead since it can be used to evade boss attacks and deal the extra damage from that particular 1 missing SP.

  77. Ayumilove Post author

@Curious Mapler: Thanks for the note. I have updated the skill build guide to max Luna Slice + Sol Rush instead since it can be used to evade boss attacks and deal the extra damage from that particular 1 missing SP.

  78. Henry Hopkin

Why would you still be using Luna slice sol rush/Flicker bluster when you’re at later parts of the gaming and will mainly be using your 4th job skills.

  79. Curious Mapler

Hey Ayumi, im interested to know why didn’t you max Luna Slice + Sol Rush / Flicker + Bluster (Active)???

  80. Questioning

Hey Ayumi.. just wondering why didn’t you max the 2nd job skill ( Luna Slice + Sol Rush / Flicker + Bluster (Active))?

That 2% will really mean alot when in later parts of the game eg. bossing… gollux… etc

  81. Questioning

Hey Ayumi, why isn’t the SOUL MASTER 2ND JOB SKILLS Luna Slice + Sol Rush / Flicker + Bluster (Active) maxed?

That extra 2% will come in really handy when you’re much higher in level and can be used as a boss evade (Eg Gollux)

  82. Ayumilove Post author

@randommapler: Both jobs are equally good. What is your gaming style (playstyle)? Do you have any preferences?

  83. randommapler

I was wondering what class I should make , Thunder Breaker or Dawn Warrior?

  84. AvengeMagnus

I am looking to make a Cygnus Knight as they have been updated for increased levels and revamped. Trying to decide and this one peaks interest. I always loved warrior classes. It is this against mihile. Which is best for bossing and survivability. I can possibly fund either one with 2bill-3 bill. Kaiser is a bit rough and I think I’m only going for link skill to my main Demon Avenger. I sunk about 20 bill plus to my DA and he does great damage at 159 to some classes 20 to 30 levels higher. Is it worth the funding to either one.

  85. Guest

Do the skills Luna Slice/Flicker and Moon/Sun Cross have significant use endgame? One allows dashing through the enemy to evade boss attacks and the other pushes/pulls enemies. IMO shouldn’t these be maxed instead of temporary main attacking skills to supplement 4th Job?

  86. LoveAyumi

    Luna Stance
LV20: MP Cost: 10, Critical Hit Rate: +20%, Damage (Reduced to): 55%

    Master of the sword
LV30: [Falling Moon] Critical Rate: +35%, Damage (Reduced to): 80%
LV30: [Rising Sun] Damage: 40%, Weapon Speed: -2

I don’t understand will Master of the sword make me stronger? Falling Moon just reduced my dmg to 80%? so does this mean for example

    Crescent Divide (Moon Mode)
    LV30: MP Cost: 75, Damage: 395%

    395-80=315% damage only?

  87. Ayumilove Post author

@ExStrikeX: 2-handed sword provide better damage. One sword swings faster but provides negligible benefit if the monster often knock-backs you. Jewel is a secondary weapon that can be fitted with both 2-hand and 1-hand weapon I think. Usually 1-hand sword can equip a shield. If shield has potential with weapon attack, its much better to give an equal footing to 2-hand stats + higher defense.

  88. ExStrikeX

Hey Ayumilove, you recommend use a two-handed sword or a one-handed sword and a jewel to Dawn Warrior?

  89. Ayumilove Post author

@MeowMeow: I prefer Dawn Warrior since they do not need to purchase any skill books or mastery books to upgrade their 4th Job Skills. Secondly, Dawn Warrior has more mobility than Battle Mage (flash jumps + high jump similar to Demon Avenger), plus they hit a lot like Battle Mage and Shadower with less finger spamming on the keyboard 🙂 This and Demon Avenger is the class that I loved most followed by Evan, Kaiser and Kanna.

  90. MeowMeow

which class do you reccommend more to play? Battle Mage or Dawn Warrior ?

  97. Kurisu

    @Ayumi

Oooh I’m so dumb! Thanks! That must make it SUPER fun to use soul penetration into styx hyper… Can’t wait to get that hyper skill! 😀

  98. Ayumilove Post author

@Kurisu: When your skill debuff effect (e.g. stun) wears off from the enemy, they will receive additional damage, similarly to poison effect but only does this once after they are out of stun mode.

  99. Kurisu

    Hey Ayumi!

Great guide! I was wondering, what is the debuff cancel you’re referring to under Soul Penetration / Impaling Rays?

    Thanks!

Puchase NX Cash or AX Cash from shop, and redeem it in Cash Shop by purchasing 3rd Job SP Reset Scroll. Free method is recreate another new character. It only takes 3 days to reach Level 100. So its either spend $$$ or spend time 😀

  101. Neo Boon Chin

hello ,can i just ask , if i misstake my skill point how can i reseet it ?? my soul master 3rd skill book ,i had no max my sol stance ,so i cant up my 4th skill book – soluna’s harmony and harmony of the sword… so how can i reset my 3rd skill book ‘ skill points???

  102. Pompomdidi

Wow Thx for the reply and i was expecting to have a late reply xD.And sorry for not being clear on my question.Normally i will do High Level Boss for example Ark,Pink Beam,Hilla,Empress and other bosses.
So if both DW and Tb were funded soloing those boss which is better? From my view DW will be better but i alway all ear to listen to other opinion as well xD.
On a side note when using Equinox Cycle will the DPS of DW improve?for example without Equinox Cycle Speeding Sunset/Moon Dance deal about 900k damage but after using Equinox Cycle it deal less dmg but with 6 line but the damage add up seen to be near 900k too

  103. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Pompomdidi, I like Dawn Warrior more than Wind Archer and Thunder Breaker because it has the stance effect skill from 4th job (prevents you from being knockback while you are attacking the boss) and deals fabulous damage with multiple lines! Also, most passive and supportive skills from Dawn Warrior are geared to boosting its weapon attack. For Thunder Breaker, you will need to keep switching skills whereas Dawn Warrior just hold down 1 button to spam attack (this saves your fingers from being hurt after tapping multiple times). Once Thunder Breaker achieve one of the hyper skills, it will allow them to spam 1 attack (Tornado) which has much larger range compared to Dawn Warrior, so it will be much easier to take down big bosses such as Zakum with multiple hands or Horntail from afar.

  104. Pompomdidi

Thunder Break and a Dawn Warrior with both fully funded equipement which is better at bossing?

  105. JAJAJJAJJAJAJAJAJAJJAJAJ

nice guide will be using it for my dawn warrior on GMS Renegades

  106. utimsaw

Erm…soul master can learn the hero will skill??????

  107. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Anon, I have changed Unpredictable PDR from 50% to 30%. Thanks for the notice!

  108. Anon

I believe that is a hyper skill.

And btw Ayumi, Unpredictable’s pdr is 30%, not 50%

  109. Tombtwit

Does anyone know what is the swirling orb around him 1:42 in the video? looks like combo aura but i cant find it anywhere in the skill book ><

  110. Ayumilove Post author

@HeroezMastazz: Sorry for the late reply! You will need to reach Level 120 and do the quests given by Nineheart/Neinheart. I have added a guide link in the Related Guides section. Upon completing the quest, you will gain Cygnus Knights + Elemental Expert.

  111. Ayumilove Post author

@Elijah: They are good for absorbing damage and inflicting damage. Much more balance compared to Wind Archer and Thunder Breaker in terms of offense and defense.

  112. Ayumilove Post author

@Daebak01: Hi, I have added a guide on how to get Cygnus Knights Skill. Click the link in the Related Guides.

  113. Daebak01

Hello Ayumi i alrdy got Job 4 but why i not get Cygnus Knight skill? PLzz help Me !!!

  114. Daebak01

Hello Ayumi i alrdy got Job 4 but why i not get Cygnus Knight skill?

  115. kjh07

@HeroezMastazz are u plying msea? If yes, u will get elemental toggle when u reach lvl 120.

  116. Elijah

Are dawn warriors good unfunded damage wise?

  117. Aelus

Yo, GMS Careening Dance (Speeding Sunset and Moon Dancer) max damage is 360%,
and GMS Solar Pierce/Moon Divider max damage is 295%.

  118. HeroezMastazz

Hey ayumi, I didn’t get elemental toggle and im level 101 4th job. Oh by the way I got Echo of Hero at level 100. Im a Dawn Warrior

  119. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks Antennian for GMS name of Foresight! I’ll update it now 🙂

  120. Antennian

Just letting you know, the GMS version of Foresight is Unpredictable

  121. Ayumilove Post author

Hi DWseriousquestion, try setting MapleStory background image to the lowest quality and try again.

  122. DWseriousquestion

i use the graphics card that came with my laptop i cant say for sure what the graphics card is but probably not the greatest:/

  123. Ayumilove Post author

Hi DWseriousquestion, I tested it out personally and I did not experience any delay in my attacks when switching from Moon and Sun attack types. I used an external graphic card when I play MapleStory. What graphic card are you using?

  124. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Paul, have you done this quest at Level 120? Shinsoo’s Call Quest.

  125. DWseriousquestion

ayoumilove i have a serious question about how equinox cycle creates a delay in your attacks why is this and is there anything that can be done to fix it? i have tried lowering the graphics and the delay continues.

  126. Paul

Hi Ayumi, I’ve done the “The Alliance Gathers” quest on my Dawn warrior but I still don’t have the “Call of Cygnus” skill. Do you know why?

  127. HeroezMastazz

Thanks! I just noticed Sol is at 3rd job

  128. Ayumilove Post author

Hi HeroezMastazz, look at the GMS skill build section. Nimble Finger is for MSEA. Soul Speed is for GMS.

  129. HeroezMastazz

I dont have Nimble Finger, and I’m in GMS… Is Nimble Finger 3rd or 2nd job? I’m 2nd Job 🙁

  130. kjh07

And i did’n get Elemental Expert (Toggle skill) after fourth job, i have to wait until 120?

  131. kjh07

i get Echo of Hero before lvl 200, is that wierd?

  132. john keyes

i reached lvl 120 and received Call of Cgynus. but what happens at lvl 125 in the quest line?

  133. Ayumilove Post author

Hi john keyes, I’ve added GMS Skill Build version to this guide.

  134. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Captain Vane, I’ve added GMS Skill Build version to this guide.

  135. Ayumilove Post author

Hi John Keyes, the other English name is from MSEA, not KMS.

  136. john keyes

can u make a guide under GMS? its confusing going buy this guide which is from KMS but the names are different. thanks

  137. Captain Vane

Time to update for GMS Ayumi 😀

  138. kano

which of the three is the strongest wind archer, soul master or strike?

  139. Ayumilove Post author

Hi passerby, 1-handed and 2-handed sword uses different damage formula. 2-handed sword usually deals higher damage than 1-handed sword even if both have the same amount of weapon attack. However, there is a way to compensate the lack of damage in 1-handed sword which is equipping a shield that has weapon attack such as Maple Shield.

  140. passerby

Hey, my friend in maplesea said that when he sees a 1h sword with higher weapon atk and equipment stats while he equipped his 2h sword, he sees a decrease in attack range, so is dawn warrior in maplesea supposed to be using only 2h swords?

  141. DragoonKnightl

Question which of the three revamp Cygnus is the strongest if you are unfunded.

Because I can never get some money in this game.

  142. Ayumilove Post author

Hi ELLO, yeah I have tested it and they can use 1-handed and 2-handed swords 🙂

  143. ELLO

Hey Ayumi, apparantly my Soul Master/Dawn Warrior can use 1 handed sword. from maplesea btw. interestingly it will adopt a different form of stance when using 1 handed and 2 handed, but im not sure about shield. you might wan to test it out

  144. Ayumilove Post author

Hi BBHunter, Soul Master aka Dawn Warrior uses two-handed swords.

  145. BBHunter

is soul master able to use one handed swords and shields? although the 2nd job sword mastery skill states a general “increase mastery and accuracy of swords”, the 4th job expert sword mastery states “increases two-handed sword mastery”. are both descriptions accurate?

    thanks for clearing things up

  146. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks WaiHarlowThar for the feedback on unlocking Cygnus Knights skill for Revamped KOC.

  147. Ayumilove Post author

Thanks XxXxX for your feedback! I’ll edit the 3rd Job Skill Build Guide to include 1 early SP to unlock those skills.

  148. kjh07

    WaiHarlowThar, thanks for your answer

  149. WaiHarlowThar

Dear Ayumi, in MSEA to unlock Cygnus Knights skill you need to be lvl120 and complete “Regular Meeting” quest. Only after the completion of the quests following “Regular Meeting”, Shinsoo will give “Cygnus Knights” skill

  150. XxXxX

Hi Ayumi, im from maplesea and it seems that for 3rd job, to unlock the 2 attacking skill you would need sol stance so you should lvl sol stance as soon as you reached 3rd job

  151. kjh07

y my cygnus character don’t have Cygnus Knights skill, that increase all stats. I’m plying MSEA

  152. Leon

Ayumilove, why no video skill for new soul master?

  153. Ayumilove Post author

Hi asdf, purchase A-Cash using real money and buy the SP reset scroll. Otherwise, find a trusted person who will sell you their A-Cash (meaning he purchase and give you the SP reset scroll) and you pay meso in exchange. An alternative free method would be recreate the character (delete character, and retrain) = waste valuable time but save you real money and/or meso.

  154. asdf

I reached fourth job but only has 19 levels in sol stance and I could not add a level in soluna’s harmony. Is there any way possible for me to reset my skills? I don’t think purchasing a skill reset book is viable because I only got 8 mil moses.

    maplesea.

  155. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Kooler, thanks for the link!

  156. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Matt, you need to download the patch manually or automatically to update your MapleStory client to receive the new jobs. GMS currently do not have any updates/patch for this yet. KMS is still working on it and once they are done, it will be passed to other regions such as GMS, EMS, MSEA, JMS to update their side to obtain the new content/jobs/items/etc.

  157. Ayumilove Post author

Hi John, I’ll be adding 4th Job Skill later 🙂

  158. Anonymous

With the new Dawn Warrior/Soul Master patch, there are new pets. Do you know what buffs each of these new pets give?

  159. matt

I’m a little confused on this patch, do you download it, or is it downloaded automatically?

  160. john

hey what happened to the 4th job skills???? oh ur finished yet. nice job btw. i hope they add the buster ability to the dawn warrior from Mihile soon. its my own opinion thou. 🙂

  161. Ayumilove Post author

Hi Song Hyun Young, it is similar to Luminous System, where you have a skill can change depending on which mode you are in. If you are in Rising Sun Mode, you can activate only Rising Sun skills whereas Falling Moon Mode, you can activate only Falling Moon Skills. However, instead of having 2 separate skills like Luminous for Light and Dark, Dawn Warrior have it combined. So that skill will alter its animation/appeareance based on which mode you are in.

  162. Song Hyun Young

Hi Ayumi, What do you meant by falling moon and rising sun? Is it dark powers and light powers as luminous have? Cool job by just looking at the skills…i’m playing maplesea… 🙂
