MapleStory 5th Job Skill Build Guide

MapleStory V 5th job skills advancement system goal is to add new battle experiences, makes you grow stronger and slightly modifying existing battle play-style. Characters who are at least Level 200 can start to complete 5th job advancement quests in Temple of Time.

MapleStory 5th Job Prerequisite:

  • Requirement: Lv. 200 and above
  • Complete Temple of Time questline (Lv.140) to begin 5th job adventure!
  • Meet the Goddesses and speak with Erda to earn their support and progress your character.
  • Buffs, skills and effects in the form of Nodes are obtained via V Matrix (5th job UI).
  • Open Nodestones to obtain nodes.
  • Nodes can be enhanced and/or dismantled in Arcane River.

MapleStory 5th Job Skill System V Matrix

  • Equip V Cores to acquire new skills, enhance existing ones and gain special abilities!
  • 3 types of V Cores: Skill Cores, Enhancement Cores, and Special Cores.
  • Skill Core: Allows you to acquire new skills.
  • Enhancement Core: Allows you to enhance existing skills.
  • Special Core: Only one can be equipped. Provides special abilities if conditions are met.
  • Skill Cores – Cost to craft: 140 V Core Points
  • Skill Cores – V Core Points obtained when disassembling: 40
  • Enhancement Cores – Cost to craft: 70 V Core Points
  • Enhancement Cores – V Core Points obtained when disassembling: 10

V Cores Guide

  • To upgrade Skill Cores and Enhancement Cores, bring those cores to NPC Achelle located at Arcane River area’s town to combine the same types of V cores.
  • Skill Cores can be upgraded to Level 30. Enhancement Cores can be upgrade to Level 60. Special Cores can be upgraded to Level 1.
  • V Cores can be disassembled to retrieve V Core Pieces which is used in the Maker Mode System.
  • V Cores is obtained by using Core Gemstone (similarly to Potions) which are dropped by monsters residing in Arcane River area.
  • When you first start 5th job, you will be given 4 slots in the V Matrix. Every 6 level ups will unlock 1 slot.

V Matrix Improvements

  • 1 Matrix Point will be obtained per level, after V Job Advancement has been completed.
  • Matrix Points can be used to enhance Core Slots.
  • Each Core Slot can be enhanced up to 5 times with Matrix Points.
  • Each enhancement costs 1 Matrix Point.
  • Enhancement Cores that are enhanced via Matrix Points will receive effects on all 3 skills in that single Core Slot.
  • The maximum level for Enhancement Skills is now 60.
  • The maximum level for V Skills is now 30.
  • Special Cores will not receive effects of Matrix Point Enhancements.
  • Invested Matrix Points can be reset at a cost of 1,000,000 mesos.
  • All currently equipped V Cores in the V Matrix for all characters will be unequipped.
  • Position of cores can now be adjusted by clicking and dragging them to the desired slots.
  • Mesos can now be used to unlock Core Slots early. A maximum of 2 early slots can be unlocked. The mesos cost for unlocking Core Slots differs based on the slot that is being unlocked. Slots unlocked will not snowball regardless of the player levelling to unlock the slot normally.
  • Enhancement EXP for levelling Cores will no longer be lost when using previously enhanced cores as materials for enhancing new cores.

MapleStory 5th Job Common Skill Cores

New skills that can be acquired by installing Skill Cores have been added. Buff duration/cooldown reduction/cooldown resets do not affect 5th job skills. Maximum Level: 25 (30 with Matrix Points)

Collect Erda from within yourself and from the surrounding area and use it to shoot down enemies. The enemy with the highest Max HP within range will get attacked first. The Erda of the enemy that has been attacked will become disrupted, which will bind the enemy’s movements. Can deal damage to enemies even when they are under Attack Ignore and attack reflection.
Level 1: HP Cost: 15% of Max HP, Damage: 156%, Number of Attacks: 5, Bind Duration: 10 sec. Bind Duration increases by up to 100% based on damage inflicted with Erda Nova. Cooldown: 397 sec

Aura Wave (Usable Every 4 sec) – Using certain offensive skills will generate the same number of waves as that skill’s number of attacks, inflicting 76% of that skill’s damage on up to 10 enemies. Cooldown: 180 Sec.
Level 30: HP Cost: 10% of Max HP, Ignores 15% Enemy DEF for 140 sec, Final damage: +6%. Aura Wave (Usable Every 4 sec) – Using certain offensive skills will generate the same number of waves as that skill’s number of attacks, inflicting 105% of that skill’s damage on up to 10 enemies. Blitz Shield Blitz Shield
Maximum Level: 25 (30 with Matrix Points)
Harnesses your own Lifeforce to create a protective shield. You can detonate this shield to inflict damage to nearby enemies.
Level 1: HP Cost: 5% of Max HP, Creates a protective shield that blocks 15% of your Max HP as damage for 5 sec. When the shield expires or the skill is activated again, it detonates and inflicts 520% damage to 12 enemies 5 times. Your shield must be active for at least 2 sec before it can be detonated. Cooldown: 15 sec

Unreliable Memory is useful for activating skills that has cooldown duration. However, it will randomly select the skills that you have learned from 1st to 4th job. To counter this issue, unlearn the low damage attacking skills so it has higher chance to activate active or buff skills that has long cooldown range.

Ethereal Form Ethereal Form
Maximum Level: 25 (30 with Matrix Points)
Moves you to a different dimension to reduce the damage you take. Use the skill again to return. While in Ethereal Form, you cannot use other skills.
Level 1: HP Cost: 1000. If you are attacked for 3 sec., you become immune to Knockbacks, and use 7410 MP instead of receiving damage. If you do not have MP, uses 2470 HP instead. Cooldown: 60 sec.
Level 30: HP Cost: 1000, Duration: 3 sec, Gain Knockdown Immunity and lose 4800 MP instead of taking damage, when MP is 0 you lose 1600 HP. Cooldown: 53 sec.

Archer Common Skill

Your stealth abilities have been heightened to their limit, allowing you to attack and use skills for a short period without breaking stealth. Shadow Walker’s stealth effect is not broken by attacks or skills. Attack is increased while stealthed.
Level 1: 1 MP Cost: 850, Duration: 30 sec. Initiates a form of stealth that is not canceled by skills or attacks. Final Damage increased by 10% added on top of Advanced Dark Sight’s Final Damage bonus. Cooldown: 219 sec

Summons brave Spearmen of the Cygnus Knights to charge enemies in a phalanx formation. The spearmen slow down upon touching an enemy. Press the skill key again to change their direction of movement. Unaffected by attack reflection.

When attacking, there is a 1% chance of healing 10% of your HP.

Fatal Strike
Your damage is increased by 100% for 2 seconds after using a skill every 30 seconds.

Counterattack
Your damage is increased by 100% for 2 seconds after getting hit 20 times.

MapleStory 5th Job Enhancement Skill Cores

  • Enhancement Cores enhances existing skills’ damage.
  • Each Enhancement Core can increase the damage of up to 3 skills, depending on the base Core and it’s 2 adjectives.
  • Base Core + 2 adjectives will all stack together and increase the individual skills’ Enhancements.
  • For example, I have the Stormy and Trembling Flame Shot core, which increases the level of Flame Shot Enhancement and also Hurricane Enhancement (Stormy) and Quiver Cartridge Enhancement (Trembling).
  • If that was a rank 1 Core and I also had a rank 3 Firey and Trembling Hurricane core, I would have level 4 Enhancements for all 3 skills.
  • Enhancement Core skills all increase the final damage of corresponding skills by 2~4% per level, with a max level of 50.
  • When they reach certain levels, they will also give additional stats. Level 20: +1 monsters hit (some skills will not receive this bonus). Level 40: +20% defense ignore

    I like the info but the way you have the site set up is annoying. For example, let’s say i have a Bishop. If I want to see all the skills a Bishop can learn I have to go to three different pages. This page, then the Explorer Magician page, then the Bishop page. Why not just copy and paste all of it in the Bishop page? Why even have separate pages for first job explorers? What is gained by doing it this way?

    @knight: You do not need to wait 2 hours per Crystal after filling it up the EXP bar. In addition, you need 100 Star Force in total from your equips to proceed the 5th job advancement. This is shown in my Ark video guide.

    So far,
    After level 200. do the necessary quest at time of temple [Pink bean quest]

    Now it require 100 star force before we can get the 3 Arcane stone,
    after get 3 stone, i have no idea if I should continue wait for 2hrs or have to fill up the exp bar?

    Any help is appreciated.

    My main character level is around 190 for Thailand_MapleStory(publish by Nexon_Thailand). This server just launched about 2 weeks ago. However my account in GMS contains many of character that surpass 200 but i decide to abandoned them to focus on local server. I’ve local language blog for maplestory like yours(but not these much hard work),it’s Thai language for Thailand server.Some content a bit different from global server. I’ve visit your blog many time to take a research for improve my blog too.     Word said “Consumes 1% Max MP for jobs without MP.” must be “Consumes 1% Max HP for jobs without MP.” (It should consume HP instead for Classes without MP like Kinesis/Kanna). Could you correct it.

    Hi Ayumilove, just wondering if you know for common bow class beyond skill “Evolve”, it only applies to bow and xbow(freezer and pheonix)? So windarcher, merc and wildhunter can’t use that skill or they have another effect for them?

    In Maplesea it seems that the max level for enhancement skill is lvl 50.

    @fate shuu, yes it is possible to max out as long as u have enough core pieces to craft the decent skills to upgrade them. But it is a waste to max them out. And for the DSE glove part, the core slots are actually not really enough to fit too much decent skills, so DSE glove still worthy to have one

    If can, no need to waste money on DSE Glove anymore 😃
