DotA2 Spectre Skill Build Guide

Dota2 SpectreDotA2 Spectre (Mercurial): Just as higher states of energy seek a lower level, the Spectre known as Mercurial is a being of intense and violent energy who finds herself irresistibly drawn to scenes of strife as they unfold in the physical world. While her normal spectral state transcends sensory limitations, each time she takes on a physical manifestation, she is stricken by a loss of self–though not of purpose. In the clash of combat, her identity shatters and reconfigures, and she begins to regain awareness. She grasps that she is Mercurial the Spectre–and that all of her Haunts are but shadows of the one true Spectre. Focus comes in the struggle for survival; her true mind reasserts itself; until in the final moments of victory or defeat, she transcends matter and is restored once more to her eternal form.

Spectre Skills

Spectral Dagger Spectral Dagger (Active)
Targetting Method: Point | Allowed Targets: Enemy Units
Spectre flings a dagger to draw a Shadow Path, dealing damage and slowing the movement speed of any enemies along the trail. Units hit by the dagger also trail a Shadow Path. While treading the path, Spectre phases through otherwise impassable terrain.
Range: 2000
Radius: 125
Path Duration: 12
Damage: 50 / 100 / 150 / 200
Movement Speed Change: 5% / 9% / 14% / 18%
Mana Cost: 130 / 140 / 150 / 160
Cooldown Time: 16

  • Mercurial’s dagger eclipses the physical plane in shadow, a state in which mortals cower, but spectres thrive.
  • Spectre can move over cliffs, trees, buildings and units while under effect of this spell.
  • Movement Speed Buff/Debuff lasts for 4 seconds after leaving the shadow path.
  • There is a 2 second grace period after leaving the path where no collision is preserved.
  • Units that enter the shadow path will be slowed but not damaged by it.
  • The dagger moves at a speed of 857.14 units per second.
  • Vision is granted of shadow path when Spectral dagger is cast.
Desolate Desolate (Active)
Targetting Method: None | Allowed Targets: Enemy Heroes
Deals bonus pure damage when Spectre attacks an enemy hero or unit who is alone.
Damage Bonus: 20 / 35 / 50 / 65
Radius: 325

  • Often times, warriors find themselves alone with a vision of Mercurial – the fated question is if it is the true Spectre.
  • Damage is dealt before Spectre’s attack.
  • Damage is dealt even if Spectre’s attack misses.
  • Siege Creeps are currently not counted inside the radius and will receive bonus damage if exactly one allied unit is nearby.
Dispersion Dispersion (Passive)
Targetting Method: None | Allowed Targets: Enemy Units
Damage done to Spectre is reflected on her enemies, leaving her unharmed. The effect lessens with distance.
Minimum Radius: 300
Maximum Radius: 1000
Damage Reflected: 10% / 14% / 18% / 22%

  • A daunting task lies before enemies of Mercurial – killing a shadow with blade and magic.
  • Illusions don’t get this ability.
  • Reflected damage is not felt by Spectre, effectively reducing the incoming damage.
  • Spectre’s effective health will be increased by {11.11%/16.28%/21.95%/28.21%}.
  • Damage reduction takes place after others such as damage block, armor, and magic resistance.
  • Reflected damage does not disable items like Blink Dagger.
  • The damage dealt decreases linearly from a 300 distance to a 1000 distance from Spectre.
Haunt Haunt (Active)
Targetting Method: Instant | Allowed Targets: Enemy Heroes
Creates a spectral nemesis to attack each enemy hero after a short delay. At any moment during the duration, Spectre can use Reality to take the place of a given illusion.
Haunt illusions are uncontrollable, take extra damage, and deal less damage than Spectre herself. They move at 400 base movement speed and ignore terrain.
Haunt Duration: 5 / 6 / 7
Illusion Damage Dealt: 40%
Illusion Damage Taken: 200%
Mana Cost: 150
Cooldown Time: 120

  • At the height of combat, Mercurial’s physical manifestation shatters, and the shadowy pieces haunt those who still cling to life.
  • Haunt illusions are uncontrollable, move at 400 base movement speed, which can be changed by movement speed bonus, and slows.
  • Illusions have Desolate at same level as Spectre, and damage from Desolate on illusions isn’t reduced.
  • There is a 1 second delay before illusions start attacking the nearest Hero.
  • Illusions ignore impassable terrain.
  • Illusions don’t attack but still follow invisible units.
