Rozlynn Bio
Rozlynn’s identity as the only daughter of the Snow Savage’s Chief Witch provided her with an extremely structured upbringing. Rozlynn was expected, from a young age, to reflect the dignity and sanctity of her mother’s profession with all the seriousness appropriate to the shamanic and witch traditions. But that was not Rozlynn. Underneath the rigorous rules of her tribe was a headstrong girl yearning to live on her own terms. And it was apparent to Rozlynn’s wise mother that she would not make much of a Chief Witch, let alone acolyte if drastic steps were not taken. The solution was to send young Rozlynn away to the tribal equivalent of boarding school—to live with a herbalist on the outskirts of their territory. Sanja was a true master of herbs, and the knowledge that she could teach Rozlynn would be instrumental in expanding her knowledge of magic at this crucial age.
Initially, Rozlynn had no interest in the mountains of herbs around the smelly tent or scrolls filled with indecipherable nonsense. But there was something charming, even appealing, about the legendary herbalist that drew Rozlynn to listen at her feet with a certain sense of awe. Rozlynn also brought her considerable character to the nearby community. The residents took a quick liking to the cheerful girl always ready to lend a hand with a kind heart. Ironically, Rozlynn’s teacher, Sanja, treated her with the coldness, severity, and lack of praise to which she was not accustomed in their close-knit tribal life.
Perhaps this was to be expected of a figure known as the “most powerful witch of the tundra”, but that did little to ease Rozlynn’s pain. Rozlynn could not have known, but her arrival at Sanja’s tent had opened up many old wounds in her teacher’s heart. For Sanja had had a friend in the days of her youth that reminded her almost exactly of Rozlynn until time and tragedy had separated the two budding acolytes. Cracks would soon emerge in Sanja’s tough exterior…
