MapleStory Evan Skill Build Guide

MapleStory Evan Job Selection

Evan is a Legendary MapleStory Magician Hero who has a flying dragon that fights along with him. Evan’s primary stat is INT (Intellect) while secondary stat is LUK (Luck). Evan is the only class that does not depend on job advancement, rather towards to the growth of his/her dragon. Each growth introduces a new skill that he or the dragon unlocks. Some new skills are obtain via quests, therefore you will gain more SP within each growth compared to what normally other jobs get 3 SP per level. [NOTE] Some Evan skills requires NX Cash Mastery Book to fully max the skill. If you intend to level up pass Level 100, do consider purchasing them. Otherwise, training will be miserably difficult with half-baked skills against higher level monsters.

Evan Storyline
It all started when Freud/Freed (a heroic magician and researcher) had a great desire of finding a way to have dragons and human live together peacefully. He meets Afrien, King of Onyx Dragon who shares the same philosophical love for all lifeforms. Both took this opportunity to pledge each other by bounding themselves with powerful rituals and spells to create a Spirit Pact. Under this pact, 2 spirits become 1 resulting an unbreakable bond even past death and also making them more powerful than being apart.

Then Black Mage came into Maple World and discovered that Onyx Dragon has great power which he can exploit. On one night while Freud was away, Black Mage meets with the great Onyx Dragon King, Afrien. He asked Afrien to join him and betray Freud and humans. He promised Afrien that working together with him makes both of them even more powerful than they could ever imagine. King of Dragon explained that the source of Onyx’s power was from the love and trust from Spirit Pact. He could not betray his friend Freud nor would break Spirit Pact if he could.

Black Mage researched a way to break the Spirit Pact forcefully and eventually came up with a possible solution by trapping Afrien’s partner (Freud) in ice forever. He launched a devastating attack on both of them and succeeded in separating them before he cast his ice curse on Freud. Afrien threw himself in front of his friend to protect him. Though the plan was not completely successful, Black Mage plan to break the Spirit Pack has been achieved. Afrien had left behind a dragon egg, and as long as this egg existed there is a chance where a future hero who comes along and re-establish the Spirit Pack. Freud escaped with the egg and hid it where it might eventually be found.

Evan, the only child of a pig-farmer found the Onyx Dragon Egg and took care of it until it hatches and matures to an adult Onyx Dragon. Both of them reforge old bonds and Spirit Pact. Onyx Dragon will rise again with his fellow companion and use this power for justice and peace! NOTE: Evan wasn’t the person who fought against Black Mage a century ago with the other 4 MapleStory Legendary Heroes.

MapleStory Luminous Skill Build Guide

MapleStory Legends Luminous Job Selection

Luminous is one of MapleStory Hero Magician (Legend) who uses Shining Rod (primary weapon) and Orb (secondary weapon). This job uses a light/dark skill system whereby frequently using light magic skills fills your orb with darkness whereas frequently using dark magic skills fills with light. Once you fully charge up either light/dark, you will go into a state of Equilibrium for 7 seconds that allows you to activate powerful skills. After that, your orb turns either dark/light (opposite color of the one before). Using skills similar to the orb deals extra damage. Example, your orb glow is currently dark, and using dark skills deals extra damage compared to light skills and vice versa. [KMS NOTE] Luminous 1st Job Primary Skill differs based on the storyline you choose. Choosing light unlocks Flash Shower (Light Magic) whereas selecting dark unlocks Abyssal Drop (Dark Magic). Luminous gets an initial of 5 SP (1st Job) and 4 SP (2nd, 3rd, 4th Job) after completing job advancement. KMS (Korea MapleStory) released Luminous on Jul 11 2012. GMS (Global MapleStory) released Luminous on Dec 4 2012.

Luminous Storyline

During his battle with the Black Mage, Luminous along with the other Heroes, managed to seal him away. But not before the Black Mage could impart some of his darkness on to Luminous. Luminous must now learn to control the awesomely terrifying power of the Black Mage before it threatens to consume his soul and plunge him into the world of darkness.

Good thing Luminous will have some help on his journey! His trusted (and see-thru) helper, Vieren, and the first person he met after fighting the Black Mage, Laina. With the help of Vieren and Laina, will Luminous learn to wield the powers of both Light and Dark to defend Maple World before it is too late?

Luminous Notes

Light vs. Dark Attributes

  • The Global MapleStory version of Luminous is a bit different from the version of Luminous in the Korean version of MapleStory. In this version, the quests and skills have been modified to adjust gameplay flow. You won’t choose between light/dark in the beginning tutorial, and there will only be one story.
  • The story will be based on the Dark side, wherein Luminous is conflicted about the darkness within him. You will have access to light and dark skills, with the ability to switch between the two and activate buffs that will enhance one or the other attribute.
  • You will gain the light vs. dark gauge when you complete your 2nd job advancement, at which point you will also be able to switch between light and dark modes.

When switching between light and dark modes, you’ll briefly enter Equilibrium state.

  • Power Stance has a chance to be activated for a brief period, preventing you from getting knocked back.
  • Attacking monsters with light skills will recover 1% of your HP.
  • Dark skills will use 0 MP.
  • Both effects for light and dark will be applied for attack skills that have an equilibrium attribute.

Then, max Flash Shower as it will be your primary attacking skill in 1st Job. For extra damage, max Dark Affinity after maxing those 2 essential skills mentioned above. Max Mana Well to temporarily increase your MaxMP so you can consume High Recovery MP Potions such as Pure Water or Elixirs without wasting a drop of it. After that, max Magic guard as you won’t be using this often during 1st job, unless the monster you train on drops lots of MP Potions. Explanation:
When you reach 2nd Job, Luminous will get an Orb Indicator located on the right side of the screen. It tells you how many more times you need to use a particular skill (either light or dark) to reach Equilibrium. Therefore, add 1 SP in both Sylvan Lance (Light Magic) and Pressure Void (Dark Magic) to take advantage of both magic benefits. Using Light Magic heals you 1% of MaxHP whereas Dark Magic costs 0 MP.

Before maxing these 2 skills, max High Wisdom to improve your character intellect (INT). The more INT you have, the more MaxMP you gain per level. Next, max Spell Mastery to stabilize your damage and then Spell Booster to speed up your attack.

Once those 3 are maxed, proceed with adding 1 SP into Sylvan Lance, Pressure Void and Black Blessing parallely as you level up. You want to have a stable balance damage when you switch from dark to light and light to dark magic. Blinding Pillar isn’t a skill use often for training, so prioritize it last.

MapleStory Phantom Skill Build Guide

Maplestory Legends Phantom Job Selection

Phantom is one of MapleStory Hero Thief born with special abilities and traits. Similarly to Mercedes, Phantom wields two weapons: a cane and deck of cards. The cane can be altered to any weapons based on the skill they copied/steal/mirrored. Phantom can attack from far by throwing magical cards in some skills. Primary Stat is LUK (Luck). KMS (Korea MapleStory) released Phantom on Dec 28 2011. GMS (Global MapleStory) released Phantom on Jul 6 2012.

Phantom Overview

CLASS: Hero
EQUIPMENT TYPE: Thief
MAIN WEAPON: Cane – (unique one-handed weapon)
SUB EQUIP: Card – new equipment type, unique to Phantom
ATTACK DISTANCE: Melee
MOBILITY: High
HP: Medium
MP: Medium
PRIMARY STAT: LUK (Luck) – needed for damage and for equips
SECONDARY STAT: DEX (Dexterity) – some is needed for equips

Phantom Storyline

Phantom was famous among wealthy merchant and nobleman. People call him Phantom because they do not know who he was as he left the stolen place without anyone noticing him but only traces he deliberately placed there. When Phantom attempted to steal Ereve’s great treasure, the Skaia, he had fallen in love with Aria, the Empress of Ereve before Cygnus. Instead of stealing from her, he asked for it. Aria found it amusing but declined his request. The two developed a burgeoning friendship that became more romantic by the day.

Before their romance deepen, Aria was killed by Black Mage envoy commanded by General Orchid. Shinsoo (a white giant bird who accompanies Aria) gave Skaia to Phantom so he can protect it. Phantom looked for Feud for an invitation to join Heroes to fight against Black Mage and to seek revenge for his beloved Aria. After a fierce battle, he and 4 other heroes were trapped in ice and put into a deep sleep by Black Mage. Freud was unlucky as he died in battle.

A century later, Phantom awakens from the curse by the help of Aria’s Blessing. He infiltrates Ereve where a meeting is being held. Hilla, commander of Black Wings poses as Empress by displaying Skaia (jewel said to glow in hands of Empress) but does not glow in Cygnus’s hands. Cygnus is the new empress of present-day Maple World and is Aria’s niece (she had no children to pass it on to). Phantom explained to the audience that the one held by Hilla was a fake and destroyed it, and showed the real Skaia was in his hands. Hilla quickly fled from Ereve after he debunked the fake Skaia. Phantom goes up to Cygnus to give her the Skaia, and when he looks at her, he’s reminded of Aria. “You’re beautiful when you smile.” he said to her before returning to his Crystal Garden (flying ship).

Phantom Notes

  • Play style: Phantom’s skills grant him high mobility, fast attacks, a high dodge chance, and a high rate of critical damage.
  • He is the fourth of the legendary five heroes to be released, following Aran, Evan (successor to one of the heroes), and Mercedes.
  • Although we refer to Phantom with masculine pronouns outside of the game, you will have the option to play as a male or female version of Phantom in game.
  • Phantom will receive a cane and a card after the tutorial. Phantom skills cannot be used unless both are equipped at the same time.
  • NPC Serge aboard the Lumiere sells canes up through Lv.25, and he sells cards up through Lv.120.
In addition to an equipment NPC, the Lumiere also has a general store NPC and a storage NPC.
  • Each Phantom character has its own individual Cash Inventory not shared with other characters.
  • Phantom can get a car mount for 10,000,000 mesos starting at Lv.100. This mount can be upgraded at Lv.200.
  • Phantom can use the Skill Swipe to steal the skill of another Explorer character. Not all skills can be stolen.
  • Stolen skills can be used with Phantom’s Impeccable Memory skills. A new level of Impeccable Memory skill is unlocked with each job advancement, allowing Phantom to steal skills from higher job tiers.
  • The Skill Management UI can be used to manage which of the stolen skills will be bound to the Impeccable Memory skill.
  • The Skill Management UI can be opened with the skill called Loadout.
  • Double-click or right-click on the skill icon to select which stolen skill will be bound to Impeccable Memory.
  • A card deck appears on the right side of the screen once Phantom goes through the 2nd job advancement.
  • After SP have been added to the Carte Blanc skill, the card count will increase at a set rate when Phantom’s attack deals critical damage.
  • Once the card deck is full, Phantom can use the Judgment Draw skill, which deals an additional card attack and give Phantom a random buff that is drawn from the card deck.

Phantom Beginner Job Skills

Skill Swipe Skill Swipe
Enable stealing skills only from Adventurer (Warrior/Magician/Thief/Pirate/Archer). However, you cannot steal a Passive/Summon/Movement Skill. Stolen skills will stay unless you delete them. Stolen skills works same as original skill, and stats based on Impeccable Memory Level. Assuming you have max Impeccable Memory (Level 20) but the person skill that you have stole is Level 3, you will only benefit from that Level 3 skill. If you stole a Level 20 skill but your Impeccable Memory is Level 4, you will only benefit Level 4 skill. In short, the skill benefits will be determined by the lowest level value. It’s best to steal from a high level character that already max the skill while you pump up your Impeccable Memory level by adding SP into it.

You can only steal certain skills based on the rank of Impeccable Memory.
Impeccable Memory I : 4 (1st Job Skills)
Impeccable Memory II : 4 (2nd Job Skills)
Impeccable Memory III : 3 (3rd Job Skills)
Impeccable Memory IV : 2 (4th Job Skills)

You can only have 1 active skill at any point of time if they are in same rank. Assuming two 2nd job skills assigned in Impecable Memory 2 skill slots, Haste and Hyperbody. When you cast Haste and later Hyperbody, Haste buff will be replaced with Hyperbody. This is a measure to prevent Phantom from being an overpowered (OP) job/class.

Before maxing this primary attacking skill, stabilize your damage output with Cane Mastery. Once these 3 are maxed, proceed with Carte Blanc for free automatic card attack (acts like Final Attack but with nicer homing card animation). Speed up your Cane attack speed with Cane Booster. Finally max Impeccable Memory II to have more effective secondary stolen skills.

Phantom 3rd Job Skill Build: Everything maxed except Blason Fantome.
1. Add 1 SP into Blason Fantome, Rapier Wit and Impeccable Memory III.
2. Max Impeccable Memory III (Steal Priest’s Holy Symbol – Magician 3rd Job Skill)
3. Max Lune, Final Fient and Rapier Wit.
4. Max Piercing Vision, Mist Mask and Bad Luck Ward.
5. Dump remaining SP into Blason Fantome.

Explanation:
Phantom has a very flexible way of training. You can max Impeccable Memory III first instead of Blason Fantome as your primary attacking skill so that you can steal/copy Priest’s Holy Symbol for extra EXP per kill and also steal Bowman’s Arrow Rain/Eruption for a large AOE attack. That way it seems that you are maxing 2 powerful skills at once for faster training. The downside is, you will need to put effort in searching those 3rd Job Adventurers in Channel 1 Towns (Example: Henesys). It is commented that Phantom can’t steal skill in Freemarket but within Freemarket Room (go into the portal where you can see player’s shops). Another good skill you can steal is Thief Channel Karma for the additional weapon attack boost along with Lune (both effects can stack with each other!) This allows you to easily 1 hit KO monsters with Level 1 Rapier Wit.

Phantom 4th Job Skills

Mille Aiguilles Mille Aiguilles (Active)
Attack 6 enemies 2 times. You can move while holding the skill key down but walking speed is slower. The attack speed is similar to Bow Master 4th Job Skill – Hurricane (Storm of Arrows).

Penombre Penombre (Active)
Move backwards and attack 10 enemies 3 times with powerful cards.
This skill can be combo after Rapier Wit to reduce its delay.
Also passively increases Rapier Wit damage.
LV1: MP -70, 216% Damage, +12% Rapier Wit Damage.
LV20: MP -80, 330% Damage, +50% Rapier Wit Damage.

Carte Noir Carte Noir (Passive)
When a critical is done by you, there is a chance to deal an extra attack similarly to Final Attack and your deck will stack with 1 card if its not at full capacity. Also, passively improves your avoidability against enemy attacks.
LV1: 62% chance to deal 163% Damage. +1% Avoid Rate.
LV20: 100% chance to deal 220% Damage. +20% Avoid Rate.

Cane Expert Cane Expert (Passive)
Increases Cane Mastery, Weapon Attack, and Minimum Critical Damage.
LV1: +56% Mastery, +1 Weapon ATT, +1% Min Critical Damage
LV30: +70% Mastery, +30 Weapon ATT, +15% Min Critical Damage

Aria Amour Aria Amour (Supportive)
Receive Aria’s prayer, improving your attack power.
Also allows you to ignore some of enemy’s defenses.
LV1: MP -62, +30% Damage, 1% Defense Ignored for 37 sec.
LV30: MP -120, +30% Damage, 30% Defense Ignored for 240 sec.

LV20: MP -50, +40 Weapon ATT / -40% Damage Taken / 600% Reflect

LV30: Stolen 4th job skill will be set to level 30.

Maple Warrior Maple Warrior (Supportive)
Increases all players’ stats within a team by a certain percentage.
Level 1: MP -10, +1% All Stats for 30 sec
Level 30: MP -70, +15% All Stats for 900 sec

Hero's Will Hero’s Will (Active)
Remove some abnormal effects from you.
Level 1: MP-30, Cooldown: 600 sec
Level 5: MP -30, Cooldown: 360 sec

Phantom 4th Job Skill Build: Everything maxed.
1. Add 1 SP into Mille Aiguilles, Penombre, Tempest and Impeccable Memory IV.
2. Max Cane Expert followed by Impeccable Memory IV and Aria Amour.
3. Max Penombre, Mille Aiguilles and Carte Noir.
4. Max Pouvoir Emprunte, Tempest, Maple Warrior, Hero’s Will.
5. Dump remaining SP into 2nd/3rd job skill if you see fit.

Explanation:
Penombre will be your primary attacking skill as 4th Job Phantom. It’s much efficient compared to Mille Aiguilles in terms of training since it teleports you backwards while attacking multiple enemies. This effect is more pronounce when its able to 1 hit KO enemies. Most fast attacking skills such as Mille Aiguilles gives monster a slight delay in their death animation, therefore you end up consuming more MP to deal damage to monsters which can be easily kill with 1 hit.

Mille Aiguilles is recommended for bossing or for enemies with high health (that can’t be killed in 2-3 hits). Add 1 SP into Impeccable Memory IV so you can copy Warrior Dark Impale for mobbing or Pirate Rapid Fire for bossing. Tempest to kill all nearby mobs. Then max Cane Expert to deal nonfluctuating damage and for better base damage.

Next, max Impeccable Memory IV so you can improve your secondary stolen/copied skills. Prayer of Aria is maxed later to further boost your overpowering cane damage. Max Penombre to have some variety in your attacks while boosting the base damage of Rapier Wit. You can switch Mille Aiguilles with Carte Noir position if you feel that the copied skill works much better than Mille Aiguilles.

Finally, max Pouvoir Emprunte to steal boss buff (like super weapon defense up), Tempest (to attack multiple monsters especially Zakum/Horntail hands), Maple Warrior (for bonus % to all stats) and Hero’s Will to remove negative buff inflicted against you.

List of Skill that are Recommended to steal/copy for Phantom Thief

Phantom Thief can only steal/copy skills from Adventurers/Explorers (Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief and Pirate) excluding special adventurers such as Jett, Cannon Shooter (Cannoneer) and Dual Blade. There are more skills that can be copied but not worth mentioning since they do not really help in training/bossing.

MapleStory Mercedes Skill Build Guide

MapleStory Legends Mercedes Job Selection

Mercedes is one of MapleStory Hero Archer (Legend) born with special abilities and traits. They are Elf who are experts in wielding dual crossbows, not 2 separate crossbows like the ones used by Marksman. They are very agile, moving across large maps and multiple platforms without any hassle. Mercedes primary stat is DEX (dexterity). KMS (Korea MapleStory) released Mercedes on Jul 26 2011. GMS (Global MapleStory) released Mercedes on Dec 16 2011.

Mercedes is the ruler of the elves, who have been asleep for hundreds of years. Along with Aran and Freud, she is one of the five heroes who sealed the Black Mage. Much like Aran, Mercedes and her people were cursed by the Black Mage before he was sealed, causing the elves to fall into a long sleep. Before succumbing to the curse, Mercedes sealed the elves’ home of Elluel so that no one could enter while the curse still held sway.

During Mercedes’ tutorial, you see a fully animated video of her, Freud, and Afrien attacking the Black Mage’s stronghold, then you play through the ensuing events in the past. Upon awakening in the present, Mercedes find that she has weakened considerably and that the other elves are still sealed.

Mercedes Overview

CLASS: Hero
EQUIPMENT TYPE: Archer (Bowman)
MAIN WEAPON: Dual Bowguns
SUB EQUIP: Mercedes Magic Arrow (Infinite Arrows)
ATTACK DISTANCE: Ranged
MOBILITY: High
HP: High
MP: Mid
PRIMARY STAT: Dexterity

Mercedes Storyline

Mercedes (Queen of Elf) and Freud invaded Temple of Time to defeat Black Mage but was unsuccessful. She was knocked unconscious in Leafre. During that time, a Mapler was travelling from future to Leafre of Past while tracking Arkarium. He found Mercedes lying unconscious and revived her using Essence of Arien. Mercedes awakens and spotted Freud (Evan) and Afrien (King of Onyx Dragon). Freud died as he took the curse on Afrien behalf to protect him. Afrien left behind an egg (this egg gives birth to Mir where a boy trains it and becomes the next Evan). Afrien took Mercedes back to her hometown, Elluel. Mercedes warns her citizen regarding the curse and quickly seal off Elluel from outside world to prevent Black Mage spell from infiltrating but her effort was futile. One by one, the elves were encased in ice and lastly Mercedes was frozen and put into deep sleep due to the curse placed by Black Mage. After a century passed by, Mercedes awakens from her slumber and found that her people still remained trapped in ice. She could remember her past as if it just happened yesterday. Mercedes was surprised her level dropped from 200 to 10, causing her to shout in anger. She calmed down and recap the events that happened before her, and proceed with training herself on Slimes nearby Elluel to be strong enough to venture into Maple World.

Mercedes Notes

  • Mercedes can only be created by selecting the Mercedes option when creating a new character.

  • Her 2nd job advancement can be made at Lv.30 through a quest.

Mercedes Beginner Skills Extra Info

Elven Healing is by far the best healing passive auto recovery skill compared to all MapleStory Jobs! It heals your HP and MP while moving or idling by % , as if you are drinking mini elixir potions. While I was training my Mercedes, I did not use a single potion unless I’m fighting against boss or power-leveling by spamming skills unnecessarily.
Elven Blessing rewards bonus EXP for each defeated monster or quest completed. Grinding will be a bit less tiresome to level up. At level 70, you can select a character on the same account and to benefit from this permanent additional EXP!
Updraft is rocket-rope skill is really helpful when climbing long rope/ladder. It can take you up to the top platform within split second. I tend to forget to use it for shorter ropes.
Elven Grace speeds up your move and jump speed to reach monsters, destination and for any other occasions faster. Long distances would not feel boring unless you’re more fond with mounts.

Mercedes 1st Job Skill Build: Everything maxed.
1. Add 1 SP into Swift Dual Shot.
2. Max Acrobatic Jump and Potential Power.
3. Max Swift Dual Shot and Sharp Aiming.

Explanation:
This build focuses more on mobility instead of damage as Mercedes hometown has many monsters scattered far and wide. Having Acrobatic Jump and Potential Power max early removes the hassle of walking long distances and catching prey. Next, max Swift Dual Shot and Sharp Aiming for more damage to defeat tougher enemy faster.

LV1: +6 STR, +6 DEX
LV5: +30 STR, +30 DEX

Mercedes 2nd Job Skill Build: Everything maxed except Piercing Storm @ 16.
1. Add 1 SP into Piercing Storm and Rising Rush.
2. Max Parting Shot.
3. Max Spirit Surge followed by Physical Training and Dual Bowguns Mastery.
4. Max Rising Rush followed by Final Attack and Dual Bowguns Boost.
5. Dump remaining SP into Piercing Storm.

Explanation:
The key to leveling up fast is to use mob skills that attack multiple enemies. Rising Rush and Piercing Storm are good candidates, but what makes Rising Rush better is it allows you to scout forward into newer territories for more prey instead of shooting and later use Glide Blast. Rising Rush itself is made for these 2 purposes.

Don’t max Rising Rush after Parting Shot since having a weak base damage does not give much output against tougher monster. Max damage boosting skills first which are Spirit Surge, Physical Training and finally Dual Bowguns Mastery. This build differs most MapleStory players’ Mercedes guide as I have tested it and it gives better results than having Weapon Mastery maxed first.

Max Final Attack as it works with Parting Shot, or any arrow skills. This allows faster kill with Rising Rush + Parting Shot combo. Finally, dump remaining SP into Piercing Storm.

Mercedes 3rd Job Skill Build: Everything maxed except Gust Dive @ 16.
1. Add 1 SP into Leaf Tornado, Gust Dive and Aerial Barrage.
2. Max Ignis Lore followed by Leaf Tornado and Aerial Barrage.
3. Max Stunning Strike followed by Water Shield and Elemental Knight.
4. Max Unicorn Spike and dump remaining SP into Gust Dive.

Explanation:
Leaf Tornado and Aerial Barrage are 2 great Mercedes skill for fast leveling. This depends on player training spot preferences. If you plan to train on long horizontal platform, max Aerial Barrage first. Otherwise, max Leaf Tornado. I used Leaf Tornado in Jesters Training Map as it has many close platforms where Aerial Barrage is very ineffective.

Before maxing either one of them, proceed with maxing Ignis Lore first for an incredible additional damage. Stunning Strike can switch queue with Water Elemental and Elemental Knight if you don’t frequently shoot much. Unicorn Spike is good for bossing or very tough monsters but it isn’t spammable.

Mercedes 4th Job Skill Build: Everything maxed.
1. Add 1 SP into Ishtar’s Ring, Rolling Moonsault and Spikes Royale.

Explanation:
Damage boosting skills such as Dual Bowguns Expert and Ancient Warding are maxed early to boost all offensive skills damage output. Before maxing them, add at least 1 SP into 4th Job Offensive skills to allow easier training, since they do much more damage compared to max 3rd job skill.
