DotA2 Axe Skill Build Guide

Dota2 AxeDotA2 Axe (Mogul Khan): As a grunt in the Army of Red Mist, Mogul Khan set his sights on the rank of Red Mist General. In battle after battle he proved his worth through gory deed. His rise through the ranks was helped by the fact that he never hesitated to decapitate a superior. Through the seven year Campaign of the Thousand Tarns, he distinguished himself in glorious carnage, his star of fame shining ever brighter, while the number of comrades in arms steadily dwindled. On the night of ultimate victory, Axe declared himself the new Red Mist General, and took on the ultimate title of ‘Axe.’ But his troops now numbered zero. Of course, many had died in battle, but a significant number had also fallen to Axe’s blade. Needless to say, most soldiers now shun his leadership. But this matters not a whit to Axe, who knows that a one-man army is by far the best.

Radius: 300
Bonus Armor: 40

Cooldown Time: 16 / 14 / 12 / 10

Notes

  • Affects invisible and spell immune units.
  • Does not affect towers, invulnerable and hidden units.
  • Affected units cannot use any spells or items and are forced to attack Axe, no matter what.
  • When Axe can’t be attacked, affected units will face Axe and be unable to do anything for the duration, or until Axe can be attacked again.
  • When a unit is affected by Berserker’s Call and Duel or Winter’s Curse, Duel or Winter’s Curse will always have priority.
  • When Axe dies, the effect stops.
  • Does not affect ancient creeps or Roshan.
Battle Hunger Battle Hunger (Active)
Targetting Method: Unit | Allowed Targets: Enemy Units
Enrages an enemy unit, causing it to be slowed and take damage over time until it kills another unit or the duration ends. Axe gains movement speed for each unit affected with Battle Hunger.
Cast Time: 0.3 + 0.5
Cast range: 750
Damage Per Second: 16 / 24 / 32 / 40
Move Speed Slow: 12%
Self Move Speed Bonus: 12%
Duration: 10
Mana Cost: 75
Cooldown Time: 20 / 15 / 10 / 5

Notes

  • Axe is granted 12% movement speed for every affected enemy. This effect stacks.
  • Denying an ally, destroying a building, or killing wards will also remove the debuff.
  • Using Death Pact, Devour, Demonic Conversion, or Hand of Midas will also remove the debuff. However, Lich’s Sacrifice does not.
  • Killing illusions or Power Cogs does not remove the debuff.
  • The affected unit itself has to make the kill to remove the debuff. Summons or illusions owned by the same player will not remove it when they make a kill.
  • Deals damage in 1 second intervals starting 1 second after cast, resulting in 10 instances.
  • Can deal up to 160 / 240 / 320 / 400 damage (before reductions) when lasting its full duration.
Counter Helix Counter Helix (Passive)
Targetting Method: None | Allowed Targets: Enemy units
When attacked, Axe performs a helix counter attack, dealing damage to all nearby enemies.
Radius: 275
Chance to Helix: 20%
Damage: 100 / 135 / 170 / 205
Cooldown Time: 0.45 / 0.4 / 0.35 / 0.3

Notes

  • Counter Helix has a chance to trigger when the attacker’s attack lands, as opposed to when it begins.
  • Does not trigger on attacks from any building, ward, siege creeps, Exorcism, Eye of the Storm and The Swarm beetles.
  • Does not trigger on extra attacks or bouncing attacks from Sleight of Fist, Moment of Courage, Moon Glaive, Flak Cannon, Split Shot and Death Ward.
  • Counter Helix uses Pseudo Random chance.
  • Counter Helix damages siege creeps.
Culling Blade Culling Blade (Active)
Targetting Method: Unit | Allowed Targets: Enemy Units
Axe spots a weakness and strikes, instantly killing an enemy unit with low health, or dealing moderate damage otherwise. When an enemy hero is killed with Culling Blade, its cooldown is reset, and Axe and nearby allied units gain bonus movement speed. Upgradable by Aghanim’s Scepter.
Cast Time: 0.3 + 0.5
Cast range: 150
Kill Speed Bonus Radius: 900
Damage: 150 / 250 / 300
Kill Health Threshold: 250 / 325 / 400 (300 / 425 / 550*)
Kill Move Speed Bonus: 30%
Kill Attack Speed Bonus: 30
Kill Speed Duration: 6 (10*)
Mana Cost: 60 / 120 / 180
Cooldown Time: 75 / 65 / 55 (6*)

Notes

  • Culling Blade does not go into cooldown when successfully culling a hero.
  • The stated damage is only applied when the target’s health exceeds Play the threshold.
  • The killing blow kills the target by dealing the health threshold as damage to the target. This damage is treated like HP removal.
  • However, despite being HP removal, it still is reflected by Blade Mail.
  • Because of this, the target can survive the blow if it gains more health back than the killing blow can deal (e.g. through Bloodrage or Flesh Golem).
  • Another way to survive it is to gain health back by losing strength reducing debuffs (e.g. Whirling Death, Decay).
  • Since Culling Blade removes almost every status effect on the target, it can gain its health from the lost strength back and survive the blow.
  • The killing blow removes all buffs from the target unit before killing it, including usually unremovable buffs like Shallow Grave.
  • The killing blow ignores spell immunity and any other kind of resistance.
  • Can be cast on Animal Courier and Flying Courier.
